Into the light

Contributed by Davinah on Tuesday, 11th July 2006 @ 02:34:32 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Sometimes, at night, I still wake up to the sounds of your laughter
I look around and expect to find you here with me
In my room, in the dark, standing in that doorway
in your usual casual way with that heart warming grin on your face.

But when I take a closer look, you are never there
and the pain of your loss cuts deep
when I realise that it was all just a dream
you no longer exist in your human form
and I will never lay my eyes on you again.

I never got to say goodbye,
you were suddenly gone to never return
So many things that I never told you, too much left unsaid.
Your heavy burden that I could not help your carry
Your pain that I could not heal, the comfort that I could not give

My ally, my protector, my link with the divine
When I dream of you, you’re always smiling
Waving to me from afar, radiant with love and happiness
Your odyssey is over, the hurt you felt while alive erased
You are in the light now and I’m still lost in darkness…

The picture of you, the boy who went astray
You were so full of life
You met your nemesis, as did I
But I am the one who has survived.

And I still feel guilty
For I am the one who has overcome
You, the one who had to admit defeat.
I’m still here while you are long gone…

Beautifully written for him. I am very sorry for your loss, there is nothing harder than to lose a family member too soon. nothing. Hopefully with paper and pen your anguish can be eased. Take care, Kimberly

A very beautiful write, brought tears to my eyes, I'm sat here sobbing on the keyboard!!! Loss is an unbearable thing, especially so suddenly and abruptly, and I am so very sorry for your loss. As cliched as it sounds, time is the best healer (this is coming from experience!) time, and writing! You've expressed your feelings wonderfully, thank you for sharing,

Tuesday x
