I’m a passenger in the car
In the driver’s seat
Resides my self esteem
And what a powerful driver it is
It drives through
An evergreen forest
Where everything lives in harmony
With life and loss
The car climbs up
A most rugged terrain
Of a mountain in the way
And if climbed cannot stay
It descends down
Into a valley of darkness
Where the shadows of fear exist
But can be defeated if you persist
The car drags on
Into the blazing desert
Where only loneliness is present
And the feeling of helplessness
It continues to drive on
And it’s the driver
That cuts all its losses
Telling me to deal with my problems
Finally the car plunges
Into the depths of the ocean
Another place of silence and peace
And where another conflict reveals itself
The conflict with oneself
For the driver is my greatest asset
And also my greatest foe
So I hope we stand together
For if we stand separate
Then together we drown
But if we stand together
Then together we will swim out
Because I’m a passenger in the car
In the driver’s seat
Resides my self esteem
And it drives the car that is my life
