Farewell Lullaby

Contributed by keilantra on Sunday, 9th July 2006 @ 08:43:54 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

I broke my heart so many times because of you
And why?
Just so you could learn to love me
And dry the tears i cry.
Watching as the word tumbles all around me,
Falling from the sky,
With heavy wings, but my heart sings,
And away I fly.

I watch the fading world from my rooftop,
Under the chandelier,
Of black space, the moon,
Stars and atmosphere.
Somewhere over the horizon
The sun burns hot and bright,
Beautiful, pale radiance
Casting shadows in the night.

And the sky whispers stories
Of things come and gone
In the distance you can hear
The Nightingale's song.
The clouds bring back memories
As I watch them wander, looking for a home
Of all the days I lost myself,
And found me all alone,
The rain reminds me
Of the painful why,
Why must it be this way
Why must we say goodbye?

Somewhere over the horizon a star explodes,
Sending fireworks into the air,
We sit and watch silently,
As you gently stroke my hair.
There are no words to be said,
No tears to cry
All we can do is watch and wait
As we listen to the Farewell Lullaby.

Kei~
Your work speaks volumes. A sad, yet so beautifully penned piece of poetry. You pour out ur utmost inner thoughts and feelings. You make the reader feel what you are feeling and that's what makes a great writer.
You are very talented Kei~ Keep up the great work.
warm hugs,
sue m

Beautiful in it's agony...I think this is very well done! I only disagree with the subject 'abstract'. I don't find it to be abstract, but 'lost love' would've worked, or 'emotional', but I suppose you had your reasons...Nicely done; keep it up!!

(Love the title too btw)
