Suffering addict
I’m lost in the void of empty time
My days, your years
Your loves, my fears
An addict lost in her internal riot of emotion
With only one option presenting a valid case
One rig
One blade
One tear and one goodbye
She’s balancing on the edge of her void
The decision has been made
Rig jams
Blade dulls
Tear is wiped from her tired face
Goodbye is stuck in her dry throat
Decision was made
Her spirit was not willing to join the eternal freefall of death
A friend she doesn’t even know saved her
Her friend doesn’t know she saved someone
These two friends may never meet
If they do they will never know their spirits joined as one
Suffering addict without hope and with only one option
Recovering addict with faith and twelve steps
Love your soul, Nurture your spirit
For the millions of friends you’ll never meet
And that one time they may need it!

Sometimes we get so lost we forget those we touch or will...Thank you for the gentle reminder...May the pen provide strength and comfort when all is dark...~ML~ |

The title is appealing, and it drew me in, and I am glad for it. I really enjoyed the (admittedly unexpected) positive message this poem has, and BIG time kudos to you as well---for overcoming that most difficult of hurdles...I like the way you told this. Thanks for sharing.
