Barefoot and found
Walking razored ground
Numbed to death
The pen gives me breath

Carelessly satisfying
Should of
Could of
Would of
Nonsense
Compromises safety

Firsthand
Intimate knowledge
Obtained
At his hands
I know this man

Secondhand
Rhetoric
“Forget the past”
“You are so much more”
I am the sacrificial lamb

Father lost to the demon
Mother lost to the bottle
Brother lost to the winds
Daughter lost to the shadows

Line by line
Marching on
The beat of madness
Drums on
