This town I live in drags me down.
It leaves me cold and feeling blue.
I can't stay here in this place.
My heart draws me to somewhere new.

My world used to be the streets of this town.
but I no longer feel the street's loving grace.
My heart draws me to somewhere new.
I can't stay here in this place.

I used to call this place my home.
but now I feel lost without a clue.
I can't stay here in this place.
My heart draws me to somewhere new.

I can't forget how you hurt me here.
I can't walk around without seeing your face.
My heart draws draws me to somewhere new.
I can't stay here in this place.

Perhaps, I'll move out west towards the plains.
and travel the highway through the mountains too.
I can't stay here in this place.
My heart draws me to somewhere new.

"West" my heart cries to find my new home
and leave this spiteful town without a trace.
My heart draws me to somewhere new.
I can't stay here in this place.

This is one of my favorite that I've read of yours, I too have felt this way awhile back, believe me it works to just pick up and move. Great job!

While every care is taken to ensure the general sites content is family safe, our moderators cannot be in all places; all the time. Please report poetry and or comments that are in breach of our site rules HERE (Please include poem title or url). Parents also please ensure that you supervise your children well when they are on the internet; regardless of what a site says about being, or being considered, child-safe.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
