nights befalls, a story unfolds in that still frame

Contributed by ibelieve-dreamsonhorizon on Thursday, 6th July 2006 @ 05:13:25 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

when the lights go out tonight,
when the last plane has lifted off from the ground,
the city once again goes to its sleep, heavy breathing
lights are blown out from empty frames
the candles of the city die
figures walked on, without a purpose, without a life
beneath the dark grey sky, i sit alone in silence

a grey bird stood on a grey tree
the tree stood there, as it has always done,
a tiny spot - the only spot
thousands of miles spread out toward grey infinitude
occasionally the rustle of tired leaves would break the delicate perfection of the scene
a breath of autumnal wind walks through this world

the bird whispers sadness to the passing wind
the wind sings in accordance - in its pouring tears
raindrops touch the cold ground as the kisses of sadness that holds the memory of yesterday's tragedy
up and down, waves of emotion swell up as ripples on a still lake
a pair of blind eyes stare into its own mind, the bird sings

only november,
when snowflakes cover up the sorrows of another year
everything is in white,
everything is dying beautifully in fairytale-like peace and silence
as i open my bleeding eyes, i can suddenly see
sadly, you drive alone in a dead world
still playing that song i wrote for you 1000 years ago
watching you in silence, watching you from the other side
three words hang motionlessly
from the tree where they committed their suicide

the bird stops singing,
but the wind carries on crying
too many tears, too many nights of hollow breathing
all of the unspoken sorrows springs up from the ground
flooding the scene, dissolving everything
the world swirls
without warning the grey throws itself into the surging ocean
the tree crumbles into the ground
the ground melts into the sky
sky turns from grey to colorless...

as the ocean becalms
everything is transparent
as the ocean becalms
all fades...

as lights go out tonight,
as the last plane lifts off from the ground,
the story awaits, unfolds
