Shattered Illusions

I hear the shatter of dreams upon stone,
As I’m left standing, cold and alone.
I understand how a heart could break,
And I learn of love and of all that’s at stake.
Comprehension dawns, it’s cold, eerie light,
And I want to stay; yet I want to take flight.
So kiss me, on my lifeless lips,
Learn my body with your fingertips,
Rescue me from my tortured soul;
Unless you’re near, I can’t be whole.
Touch me now, whilst time stands still,
Then leave me be when you’ve had your fill,
Pull me from my desperate reverie,
Then decide to love me, or leave me be.
I need the warmth of your love on my skin,
As I fight a battle, I’m unable to win.

This is beautiful. It has a lot of longing in it. I think it is wonderful. Your words speak volumes. Sue x |
