Witch Hunt

Topic: StoryPoetry

Lover, tonight, lay your head upon my heart,
A pillow for you on which to rest your aching bones,
This strange fruit we feast on, devour,
Begins to turn bitter, suddenly sour,
Like this hell in which we find ourselves, unable to tear away,
Being rocked by the tides as they violently sway;

This music, this sound; the Devil’s own mark,
To my ears is as sweet as each angels’ hark,
And these shores, there are footprints, we’ve been here before,
On the night that Saint Lucifer led us to his door,
Those flames - such a sight! - as they lick at our feet,
Twirling and twirling, in glorious heat,

Hocus! And Pocus! A magical chant, causing the worlds to suddenly slant,
Fire, and brimstone, the skies start to fall, and the witches heed their Devil’s call,
Come into the darkness, shy away from this light,
Who cares what is good, when wrong feels right,
When ashes and curses and sins fill the air,
Scream, if you will; as you enter his lair.

Say hello to eternal night, for the day has bid farewell,
My heart is as full as the ocean; as the seas begin to swell,
Devil take all that I am; for he is the only one to care,
You think his love is evil, my friend, oh no, quite contraire,
He offers his minions the world, and then pulls it from their hands,
His love is as clear as a hurricane, slips through my fingers like the sands,

And still we gorge ourselves, upon the flesh of this strange fruit,
Concerned that we are not more aware; a little more astute,
But it is you who watches, with unconcealed delight,
The witches, as they dance, within this flickering light,
As the flames rise once more, consuming all in their way,
A cackle, and a laugh, and then no more to say;

This night shall go down in history; the night the witches won the world,
With dancing, laughter, music and spells; as the amber flames a-twirled.

This is a really awesome poem. Love anything concerning witches. This little island I come from, has a history of witchcraft, some of our witches were in fact were involved in the Salem witch trials. True or false, I believe. Spookily yours. Sue x Enjoyed this brilliant work.
