Food
Squishy yogurt on your fingers,
Spaghetti in your toes
What the heck is that I see
It’s a green pea in your nose.
A great big moustache made of milk
And pudding on your cheeks
Mouth so full of Cheerios
That you can barely speak.
Here comes the dreaded wet cloth,
I try to find your face
Beneath the goo, and mush, and stuff
You wiggle in your place
There it is, I see you now
I can’t believe my eyes.
Uncovered now from the edible mess
Your beauty is no surprise.

What lovely memories this brings back. My daughter would eat anything you put in front of her, nowadays aged 17, she is a fussy eater. Well she is healthy, so I must have done something right. Loved this poem, can visualise it too. Sue x |
