  Social

Convalescent

Contributed by TheSpiritx on Sunday, 9th February 2003 @ 11:40:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Event

In this reality
Amidst the totality
Of the world's morality
Lies a fallacy.
An error of centrality.

And in it we're lost,
In it We're tossed,
At the cost
of personal exhaust,
In social chaos.

We then find
That the subject of our mind
Is a less than kind
Mis-aligned
Single power intertwined,

A source of confusion
Creating a delusion,
An almost foregone conclusion,
That the power's intrusion
Is just an illusion.

The power itself seemingly evanescent,
Barely present,
In the daily grind that's unpleasant.
We just want to be absent
Of the pain we're put through; to be convalescent.

A period of healing.
A method of dealing
With what it is we're feeling.
A time to stop concealing
The things that send us reeling.

We're sent over the edge,
And those in power alledge
That we can't handle the wedge
Into which we're hedged.
They think we need to be fledged.

As though we're not ready
And we simply can't see
what it is upon which they agree:
The meaning of a guarantee
Made in an unintelligible decree.

But we strive to show
We've surpassed the low
Standards they think we can't achieve, although
we know it's not to us they bestow
The power to fight this turbulent flow.

They expect nothing more
Than for us to fight their war
Unquestioningly, and yet we implore
Them for answers, but they ignore
All they're responsible for.

Thrown upon us are
The remnants of social mar
And we strive to come to par
With those around us, near and far,
Our progress no longer barred.

Out of the ashes we rise
And we strain to comprise
Ourselves not of elitist ties
But of the power that lies
In those they despise.

With our debut
We say adieu
to those that flew.
To those we pursue:
We will find you.
