The Death of an Angel

Contributed by wizard on Sunday, 2nd July 2006 @ 01:52:55 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Empty days as angels sing their message to impart,
A dying love forever more to cease a fragile heart.
A word upon a simple prayer for hope to soon return,
Upon the day, the angel way, as lover's hearts so yearn.

A sacred bond for two to hold, so long does it evade
When it seems this bond is found, again two hearts betrayed.
Nightly battles fought and lost, soldiers bloodied in a thought;
Heaven’s glare upon the night; insidiously fraught.

Unto the night a wish is sent for love to soon obey,
An angel chancing by is fleetingly pulled astray.
She holds this wish and tries in vain to grant this endless plea;
Afraid she stands and realizes, it is an impossibility...

Bewildered as she glared upon this wish she could not grant
Uncertain of what was at hand, she begins to descant,
This wish of love was not sincere as seen in the angel’s eyes
For such a wish was merely made to settle helpless cries.

Too much for her to bear was this contradicting wish
Now outside of heaven’s gate she feels this heart's anguish.
The pain bestowed by this simple dream was all that she could stand
Soon the angel’s heart was torn; and her wings would soon disband.

She fell from heaven for this wish made on this fateful day
Confused how one could want to love, if it’s so quickly thrown away
“Be careful what you wish for” she cried, her last amen,
Then quietly she faded by, as this angel died again.

good write! i loved the poem over all! Too much for the angel to bear was this contradicting wish
Now outside of heaven’s gate she feels all of earth’s anguish
The pain bestowed by this simple dream was all that she could stand
Soon the angel’s heart was torn; soon halo and wings would disband-- these lines are really good! nice job!

This is such a deeply moving, and thought-provoking piece Wiz....wow. You seem to have written this with such a clarity of thought and purpose, and the forlorn feeling throughout is unmistakable. This is definitely a new favourite by you...Very well done.

pinnacle sadness.. the 5th stanza is excellent,

realtive to many of my own struggles.

Such sorrow , pain and suffering protrude from ur write. I felt every painful emotion through ur well ascribed and detailed poem. Thought provoking and deep. Now sadly the Angel dies, just like innocence. A remarkable masterpiece. Your poetry has reached new heights. Keep up the great work Wiz~
