Flowers (This Real Earth That Ruins Love)

Contributed by FreelanceDub on Saturday, 1st July 2006 @ 11:47:08 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

this type of sickness is common
in most males
we're fragile and frail
and the hell we dwell
is a sweet sickly smell
of perfume and brimstone
and cute little ringtones
so you'll know it's her calling
and aside from the balling and brawling
and falling way harder than you should
it's a pleasant pristene
concise and clean
dream land
of flowers and candy
and you being the man she
needs to open the doors
and carry over the floor
and what's more
be the first and before
to say I love you
in front of his friends
and will go to the ends
of this earth just to see
her smile

And it's worthwhile
for a while
but the style goes wild
and the sweat and wet
skin gets slippery
and wearily
you roll over and sleep
and sleep
And in the AM it's mayhem
with kids and jobs
and bills and the "Oh gods"

And the love might still be there
But it's not where
you left it
It's not in the heart
it's in the brain
and you maintain
checks and balances

Flowers are nice now
But so is money for rent
and it's been spent
on diapers and cornflakes
and you get why it's so high
the divorce rate
Moms in law
fights gettin raw
and you start feel it losing control

So say I love you now
while the flowers still bloom
before the meek shall
inherit your world
your little boy or girl
and marriage and family
eat you alive

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
