Burned-Out Embers

LoveRemembered

I catch a hundred thousand flames as they fly into the night,
The glowing embers that would not burn, at last have set alight,
The secrets that my mother told, burn behind my eyes,
The world is full of bitter-sweetness, and painful, sad goodbyes,
Regret the things you did not say, regret each stifled scream,
Remember days of lustful plenty, when we owned all we could dream.
My heart of glass, your heart of stone, a bed of weeping tears,
Right now I’d give anything, to relive those anguished years.
When pain was all we had to give, the joy was ours to take;
Sometimes, at night, I dream of you, and wish I would never wake.
Awake with me, my anguished soldier, with eyes of tortured blue,
My heart of glass is mine to give, it now belongs to you.

This poem is very well written. It has a lot of angst in it. Yes we all have had a heart of glass, and its sufferance when it is shattered. I applaud the how you have put it into words. It was a joy to read.Sue x |

This is a very impressive, emotional story. You write in a very amazing way. Each line, long but true and flows very well. I could read it forever. |
