What should you say, if you were to see my face?
Tear-stained now, make-up out of place,
And changed by the years passed, since we last met,
Aged by my anguish, lined by regret,
I was just a child then, with innocent eyes,
My naïveté died with the last of your lies,
If I were to call your name, would you know me?
If I couldn’t find my way home, would you show me?
Would you recognise my smile, grinning your way,
Or would you just stand and wonder; what to do, what to say?
So many times have I passed your door,
Looking down at the ground, eyes to the floor,
Afraid of our meeting, or that we should part,
To go on to other places, other times, hey, sweetheart?
