The trees stared at me with their creepy eyes,
as I followed the sound of piercing cries.
The forest I walked through was vast in size,
and all around me there were hidden spies.
The birds flew in a circle around my head,
chanting, chirping, about wanting me dead.
I don't know how I could've known what they said.
It was unusual how they never fled.
The monkeys that I saw in the trees,
swung from tree to tree, right behind me.
When my allergies picked up and made me sneeze,
the monkeys got scared and dropped a hive of bees.
The bees (damned bees!) chased after me in swarms,
I ran and I ran, through brambles and thorns,
and then, as I was beginning to get worn,
I saw the most beautiful girl ever born.
I walked up to her and I said "Hi,"
She said "It is time for you to die!"
Then she flew up high into the sky,
and I started running, screaming "Why?!"
I had to meet an evil angel with wings,
that uses her voice to make my ears sting.
This was one hell of a way to spend my spring.
I was hoping not to meet the Forest King.
I kept on running, never looking back,
and suddenly I heard a sickening "Crack!"
A gigantic spider had made her limbs snap,
and then I had no choice but to attack.
I ran around it with my mighty bow,
I kept my distance and fired some arrows.
I was lucky that the thing was so slow.
Unharmed, I finished it with one final blow.
But the combat wasn't done,
'cause the Forest King had come,
out through the slain spider scum.
The true battle had begun.
I got out my dual scimitars quickly,
and managed to block him from hitting me.
The Forest King moved with amazing speed,
but my defenses, he could not exceed.
I turned away his swords, parried his blows,
I was trying to get his legs exposed.
Then he took me by surprise and broke my nose,
but I quickly recovered my battle pose.
I could not be defeated, I would not let him win,
I had to get rid of this man and his wicked grin.
We continued to fight in a sword-sparking whirlwind,
and then I was finally able to disarm him.
I almost let him live, but thought better of it,
For this ex-forest king, death would be a better fit.
So I sliced his head off, with his own sword, nice and swift,
and I left it there, for the forest, as a gift.
Despite this great victory, I could not rest,
my destination was hundreds of miles to the west.
I didn't know if I would complete my quest,
but I would continue on my journey, nevertheless.
