Please Help me Understand( A prayer)

Lord please help me to understand,
Why things never work out as I planned,
How happiness turns to pain and sorrow,
And there is no hope for my tomorrow,
If you will only show me the way,
Give me feelings and words to say,
For I am lost and alone again,
Lacking in confidence,feeling the strain,
Tell me why when its late at night,
Before I turn out the bedside light,
I think of things and start to weep,
And end up having restless sleep,
And when I wake up in the morn,
My face looks weary and oh so worn,
I arise and to work I go,
Paint on a smile,so it does not show,
The face I show is only a token,
For locked inside me is a heart thats broken,
An ache that bares down on my soul,
When consequences took their toll,
So now my Lord, I will explain,
The reasons I am suffering this pain,
For this man did not break my heart,
It was other people who tore us apart,
They took the time to criticise,.
Sarcastic and nasty were their replies,
If only they knew what they started,
Caused two lonely people to be parted,
So Lord , we have burnt our bridges,
Which left our path blocked with ridges,
Lost and lonely,and totally bereft,
Only bitter sweet memories left,
So help us both in our plight,
And try to help us see the light,
Give us strength to pave the way,
And once again be friends one day,

I really love the way you have written this. And again, such a wonderful flow!
It also reminds me a lot of things that have happened in my life. Two very dear people to me, one recently, and one a few years ago, that I have sadly it seems parted ways with them, in part due to others meddling in our lives. But it also makes me wonder...if others meddling could tear us apart then were the relationships that strong in the first place. Sorry, I am just thinking out loud. I just feel if others can sway a person, then is there doubt about the relationship in the first place?
Anywho, great poem. I really like it. Obviously it is very thought provoking....at least for me because it certainly has gotten the thinking really churning in me now.

The lord works in different ways.
His always with you never forget that.
Heres a message you should read.
One night I dreamed I was walking
along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.
Other times there was one set of footprints.
This bothered me, because I noticed that
during the low periods of my life
when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord, "You promised me, Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
But I noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there has only been one set of prints in the sand.
Why, when I have needed you most,
have you not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have seen only one
set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
God loves you and all his children

| Sue another beautiful poem, could really feel your feelings, I truly think God listens I feel guilty asking sometimes when there is so much suffering in the world, but God loves us all.... I know prayers work it has for me...xxx |

a heartfelt poem well written...just believe the Lord has a handle on things we don't see the whole picture
