Crossroads

Driving insanity…which way can I turn…?
Give me my life back, the fire that burns….
Take this burden off of my heart
Let the addiction of darkness part
Lift from my soul, the clouds that blind me
Give me back my strength, my internal discipline
That I had once before….
I'm lost and drifting, through the pains of an addict
No more denial, I want to break free
From these chains that are holding me down
And enticing me with numbness, so I never turn back
In to the leader I once was, fearless and just
The armour's been torn, and destroyed by rust
Your shield of honour, tarnished by the pains of surrendering
Giving in to the darkness, a house full of cards
A paper thin shield which the darkness cuts to shards
Hit by the shrapnel, you start to feel pain
And the memories bleed in to your mind, much to your disdain
You allow yourself to feel, just for a moment, too much to bear
Plunge the needle into pleasure, numb your scars, an empty stare
Remains of the warrior, that once occupied your mind
Were scattered like the wind, now answers you need to find
Your once strong mind, the greatest weapon you have known
That lead away from suicide, what helped you deal with being alone
Is weakened and tattered, a slave to your master
Your heart and soul once moved to goals, now desire and lust is what makes them race faster
You need to take back control of your mind
Which brought you to greatness, which helped you out of a bind
Take back the aggression, take back the rage
That flew through your mind, as you were trapped in a cage
The cage is now a prison, see through with no door
To open and remove yourself, because your lust wants more
To keep you inside, and lose your well being
Continue to blind your senses, cause of the images you're seeing
A battle must rage for your soul once again
The dark and the light, your home or snakes den
You have to find the inner strength, which is lost inside your head
If you don't, and you don't change,
All, which you have fought for, will be dead
Your family, your son
Your wife and loved ones
Will all be a casualty, of this sickness inside
Which has removed inhibition, but has also stole your pride
You always claim to have learned from the past
And you always have said, that your happiness will last
But this demon inside, has taken your will
A maddening voice, directing cheap thrills
A silent storm, a violent storm, must erupt in your brain
To remove this inhabitant of lust that remains
Kill it destroy it, take back your heart
Regain control of your mind, do your part
If you don't you will destroy, all the things that you've earned
And the cycle will continue, as your wife and son get burned….
