Fraternizing with the enemy
Guerrilla warfare involving high levels of disdain
Kamikaze phonecalls
Not knowing who your allies are
Fighting for what you're desperately trying to believe in
Fearing your beliefs because of barracades of doubt
Struggling for a victory
Though you've always hated war
Everything between us
The here and now
The past
Uncertainty of what casualties lie in advancing
Faced with resistance, retreat,
Surrender?
NO!
I've surrendered once before
And though for now I've lost that war
I've learned from what I now deplore
Please, someone sign a treaty
Someone call it off
I pray to God there aren't really weapons of destruction

i LOVE this, it's amazing how u so accurately metaphorized a war and a relationship, the rhymes in the last stanza remind me of "the raven" (meant to be a very high compliment) |
