LoveRemembered
|
Worlds and airplanes; the night on fire, stone and glass; a broken silver summer like an old dog dying in the rain, or a fresh wound stirring slightly and slipping over an ocean of the moon, or stretching over the horizon of a dead mans land.
Feelings come and go. The stars slobber over the chest of a new love. Man walks over the face of the earth and forgets his own fear. The first of her tears begin, and the first angry word settles in her somber, sullen hair.
We, each one of us, suffer. Our own love suffers simple sad and strong over the strings of the sky.
The small of the world lay on her back, and I upon the binding of her breasts.
I was an autumn sleep, a forgotten rain in the valley of her flesh.
She opened to me, rose slightly; issued forth, found breath, and believed.
I have felt great sorrow in the depths of her absence.
That I should desire her, as I desire the spires of heaven, brings to me such shame.
I am the shadow of a man, a brazen, bitter husk of what could have been.
I am a pale horse broken by the stones of her laughter.
I am afraid of the world; in my fear, I am a failure.
I am an unkind man; in my heart, I hear her voice; I am a broken dream.
