Spring-loaded nerves
Itching to jump
Drooling with anticipation
Engine rumbles
From west to east
Speaking only one language
Perfect symmetry
Low-rider on the horizon
As free as the wind
Pushing back the ordinary
Having wasted too much time
Now or never he whispers
As he passes you by
Leaving you to wonder
What you’re missing
Insistent hunger threatens
To eat you alive
You watch him disappear
Over the next rise
You can never catch up
But you will always try
Because he is legendary

The ride not taken? This one seems to be taken from actual circumstance, but it also serves as a well-penned metaphor for the tempting chances that come and go.
