When Darkness Descends

Contributed by jerseysue on Thursday, 22nd June 2006 @ 02:50:28 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I look up at the evening sky,
And ask the question, why oh why,
Is life so tedious, and such a test,
When is my turn to take a rest,

Dark clouds appear and bring the rain,
Like me awash with the pain,
The coldness eats away at my soul,
As the blackness over me takes control,

No brightness here, to make me see,
No light at the end of the tunnel for me,
Just total obscurity, hidden snares,
Obliterate me and bring despair,

Secluded in my own space,
Far away from the human race,
Tense and scared, chilled to the bone,
Inconsolable, and so alone,

Sue, I believe it is in our darkest moments that we can see most clearly into our own hearts. This poem is a perfect example. You penned your heart to the page on this and it is beautiful, albeit sad. Well done.

This is a poem I can really relate to, just as it seems I'm getting over one hurdle, another pops up and before I can see it I've tripped... A very honest and effective write, thanks for sharing,
