I wish I knew how to start,
and tell you how I feel.
Deep down inside,
I still wished you were here.
I made a mistake to let you go.
And now your gone
to start a new life,
a life without me by your side.
It hurts to know that,
our friendship is gone
I just want you to know that
I will always be here and my heart
still beats for you.
I have to learn to let you go
and forget about it all.
I hope one day to pass you by,
and see you smile one last time.

You've expressed in this piece a tender and gentle regret full of hope, equally tender and gentle, to "see you smile one last time." Beautiful, brief and sweet. Good work! Hope you can regain at least the friendship part. I'm cheerin' fer ya.
