LoveQuest

Contributed by spike on Tuesday, 20th June 2006 @ 07:14:33 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

'Heroine' by Jenny Dolfen www.goldseven.de.

Too soon the warrior falls,
The blade of truth, cold reality
Armour and amore
No defence against heart’s frailty

Too soon the lovers’ kiss,
The sweet thrill of anticipation
Dulled by what’s amiss
Extinguishing conflagration

Too soon the poet writes,
The muse in no disposition
Words that could swoon many
Fall flat in composition

To soon the warrior rises,
Too soon the lover’s kissing
Too soon the poet picks up the pen
For the heart is always searching.

I'm kinda mind blank to comment, other than I sure do like the way ya create a captive atmosphere with your words. I'd have t' have a conversation with ya 'bout "too soon" 'cause time's a wastin', Spike! Ya made me look up that word conflagration. Thanks, teach.

I'm not a hopeless romantic, but I am the eternal optimist, who considers that one day things will be perfect. Yes but all the trials we face have been carefully written into this beautiful piece of poetry. A quest of love it surely is. Sue x

I am a hopeless romantic I am affraid so I really liked this piece. "The heart is always searching" this is so true. It never stops. Even when we are in a relationship we are searching for exceptance and love within it.

ah ... spoken like a true poet!!

Spike, I have to say I love the way you wrote this. But,
there is somewhat of a very melancholy tone to the
whole darn thing. Being that I AM a hopeless romantic,
[actually president of the club], I fear that your word
choices ... and certain phrases in here are somewhat
disquieting where love is concerned.

I would add just one thing to your last line .. the heart
is always hoping
as well.. hoping that it's search
will finally end in the arms of its one true love.

Now THAT is an honest HR statement!! (how bold am I? lol)

*hugs*
~Breezy

Welp... add me to the list of those that liken themselves to the description within your author's note. You might as well have just put my name there, LOL... every bit of it is me, I confess.

I particularly like the first stanza here. Frail, yes... one's heart is unfathomably frail, I think. I don't think we realize to what extent it truly is until we do find love. True love somehow manages to bring ever increasing strength and undeniable, unavoidable vulnerability at the same time. There is no amount of 'preparation', foreknowledge, or mental/emotional "armour" that could ever fully protect against that vulnerability... nor, in my humble opinion, should there be. Ah, yes... falling in love... *sigh sigh sigh*... I just cannot imagine that anything ever would have greater affect on a person that having found that one, true.... someone.

Oh and... like Roxie, I might offer a suggestion regarding the last line. I, myself, want to see searching replaced with wishing there... it seems to me to want to be there (to fit, I mean) and truly, I cannot help but consider that hopeless romantics of the haven't-yet-found-it-or-lived-it variety are always, always wishing (whether or not they are "actively searching", so to speak). Just my two cents (*wink*).

Always pleased to have stopped by your page,
~Snemmy
