Rumbling, rumbling, over a city of fear.
The buildings mighty, the towers tall,
But the visage makes me shed a tear.
The city, once booming, once happy, once rich,
Is now a pit of despair, a sour pall.
The denizens hang their heads,
Some run, some shout, some scream in their beds,
And some weep, motionless.
The sun is shining, the horizon is clear,
The water is clean, and no armies are near,
But in the distance lies a peak,
Billowing with smoke.
They could all get out quick, quick!
But they love their marble gates;
Their shiny streets are all their fate.
They shall not get out quick, quick!
They shall not light the builders' eyes with greedy fire,
They shall stay, resolved, grim and dire,
This is their home.
