..a toast

Contributed by Man_On_High on Saturday, 17th June 2006 @ 12:04:49 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Yes, death is at the bottom of the cup-
everyone that lives must drink it up
and yet between the sparkle at the top
and blackest lees where lurk that bitter drop,
there swims enough cheer Heaven knows
to cease our hearts and all our woes.

The bubbles rise in light at the brim
while bitter drops remain far and dim;
the liquid spreads and paints our dreams
that in the glad delirium seems,
by all the light if you've a will:
no mighty drop should lose its thrill~

Very well penned.

I'm always rather impressed with your writes, Billy, but I must confess, I have no clue what to say about this one. I do want to say something because it is well done, but I don't know what.

I think the symbolism is wonderful, and the title just tops it off.

Good write.

*hugs*

hmmmm , I am not sure why you posted this as dark poetry.

I love the comparison of life in the glass. Like a good wine,
it is to be savoured and thoroughly enjoyed to the end.

Excellent musings, dear Billy and as per usual,
exceptionally conveyed.

~Breezy
