Grief Black as This

Contributed by Man_On_High on Friday, 16th June 2006 @ 07:58:52 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

And OH! ..to think the sun can shine,
the birds can sing and flowers bloom
and she, whose soul was all devine,
be darkly resting in the tomb;

..that o're her head, the night-winds sigh
and the willows droop and moan;
the like, has veiled her glorious eyes
and hushed her Heavenly tone.

Her rosy lips, no more can smile,
nor pity's tender shadow chase
with many and often, a wayward wile,
the gentle smile from her face~

And so I say to Mother Earth
and Star, who mock my dreams of bliss:

"there is no glory left to mar,
nor any grief, as black as this!"

Billy~
Such sadness and pain ascribed on this page about the loss of a most dear and loved one. Your words bring tears to ones eyes and an ache in ones heart. When we lose someone who is so dear to us we try to hang on to their memories as much as we can. We even despair and ask the question why God took them away from us so quick and so soon. My heart goes out to u hun and my prayers for u are constant.

And so I say to Mother Earth
and Star, who mock my dreams of bliss:

"there is no glory left to mar,
nor any grief, as black as this!"

How true these lines are dearest Billy~
Chin up sweetheart. She is with you always.
Much love and huge heartfelt hugs to such a special and dear friend.

My dearest Billy~

This most anguished outpouring pulls at my heart more than anything else I've read.
I'm sure it is in light of recent conversations that I feel this one more that the others.

Often in our lives a travesty befalls us that we are neither prepared for nor willing to accept.
I know this all too well, sweet Billy. But I feel that even worse a travesty, is when we, (the
broken and bleeding survivors) are left to try and cope with it, almost succeeding, but
barely holding on some days (or nights). We, [I believe] must learn to forgive ourselves
for (what we may see as) shortchanging our loved ones during the time we had them.

Your dear mothers suffering is over and she is on a new and wonderful adventure-
you deserve for your suffering to end as well. SHE would want that. I believe that
with every fibre of my being.

You possess one of the kindest, warmest souls, I've ever met.
Would that I could take all this pain away- (you know)

*hugs yout tight*

bro,

i would love to leave paragraphs of my thoughts and feelings on this (as others have), however, i would just like to say that this is quite possibly one of my favorite of all your writes thus far, which is quite a bold statement, considering the greatness of them all. its brevity and lack of superfluous words transform this to a true masterpiece. your emotion in this is portrayed perfectly.

I am so sorry for your loss, Billy.

Your grief pours out through every word, and it is truly heartbreaking.

I do believe this is one of your best, your emotions have truly fallen out on to the page...

Again, my condolences.

I went to my father's grave today and felt all the emotions you expressed so well in this writing. I hope for peace someday. However, right now I cannot imagine finding it. I sincerely am so very sorry for your loss.
