Crowd assembled, nervous faces peeked through the curtain wall
Parents herded in, appointment crayoned on the calendar a long time ago
One badly tuned piano identified the moment
As Mary and Joseph climbed the steps to Bethlehem
In dungarees poor Joseph stood, with Barney Bear motif
The costume plans somewhat amiss, victim of bolognaise
Proud mum smiled as Mary waved and then forgot her lines
Three Shepherds watched, not their flocks, but a spider in the straw
Jesus lay in his manger bed, "Handle with care" written on the side
In swaddling clothes marked "A present from Wales" lay the Holy Cabbage Patch Kid
All around the herald angels sang in mighty voice
Some in one key, some in another, most not really sure
Three wise men proclaimed their gifts in wondrous curtain robes
Gold, frankenstein and myrrh they gave, just like the story said
Parents clapped when prompted and many times when not
Mrs Green the teacher smiled, relieved a real donkey could not be found
The final scene, although rehearsed, took Mary by suprise
She rushed onstage from who knows where, with chocolate round her mouth
Joseph fell right in the middle of an audience stunned with shock
Two parents gasped at bright green hair, when Josephs's teatowel fell off

yes, the magic and professionalism of the school Christmas pagent - all of which make priceless memories, and embarrassing video for their 21sts.You captured the humour and imagery with a doting parent's eye!
