The banishment of one's own soul,
the punishment.
The quest for happiness,
all I've ever asked for.
Redemption for myself.
Lead me to the truth of my existence.
I fall before you,
I beg for mercy,
head in hands, I lay before you.
but I am nothing,
I am the sinner,
each sin laid bare,
each injustice bleeds, in my name,
each tear,
a lifetime of sorrows.
I am shamed.
My anguish complete.
My heart ever aching.
I plead for deliverence,
but I am nothing,
I am the sinner,
my pleas unanswered,
my love forgotten.
I drown in the depths of my own misery.
The torment of my own creation.
You look away.
And the pain of my own insignificance,
cuts me through and through.
I grow weary of this journey,
a battle I cannot win,
and still my passions flicker on in my eyes.
I surrender myself,
broken by defeat,
offer all that I am,
and realize,
I am nothing,
but the sinner.
