Lady of the Hillside

Was she avante gard or simply on guard all of the time calculating her losses behind agate green eyes. Misunderstood and trailing behind she lacked common sense as she painted pictures to cover holes in the walls to keep out the winter. Discontent crept into her soul leaving a stain she couldn't rub out. His words seemed to haunt and mock her wherever she went, so harsh was his judgment, so cruel his intent. She was fooled by him once but never again. She fled into the arms of a new lover who charmed and disarmed her, until he reached her cold little heart. Her laughter was brittle, the walls were thrown up to guard against what he said was a gift. "No thank you," she uttered standing her ground, her agate green eyes staring him down. He tried and he tried to breakdown her walls, to see some warmth in her agate green eyes. He left her alone on the windy hillside where he'd found her, his heart bruised from her hard hearted refusal. What love she had given was thrown back at her feet.
In moonlight she shines like a statue of silver and by morning she disappears with the dew. The lady of the hillside can never be captured though have tried.

What a captivating story!!!
You held me from begining to end and I couldn't help but to compare it with events in my own life.
