The Rose

Contributed by Reverence on Tuesday, 13th June 2006 @ 06:53:33 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Will this rose wither and fade away?
Or will it go on and live another day?
Its stem is weak from all the stress.
Its petals far away from looking its best.

The heavy emotions it feels inside
The pain that it shows cannot be denied.
Tired of life, of stormy days
On the windowsill of loneliness it lies.

Hoping, dreaming and waiting for the day,
That its heart stops aching and withering away.
Waiting for the day that it will rain,
The countless drops of love in vain.

For this rose I purely hope, it’s not too late,
To once again rise above heaven's gates.
A fallen flower from the skies above,
I wish, I hope, I pray for love.

Welcome to YPDC, Reverence. Fantastic first post. From the wisdom of hindsight of two ex marriages, I read into your poem when conditions of love manifest ex, the unconditional love remains and, from strength of the latter, wish well the butterfly we set free ... to permit roses to grow.

Sincerely enjoyed your work. Look forward to seeing more here at YPDC.
