Before you came into my life the stars refused to shine.
The rain fell as silver razors, slicing deep into me.
Scars slept upon my skin, contrasting crimson and ivory.
My heartstrings eventually snapped beneath the weight of deceit.
They no longer produced song.
I walked alone and it was always nighttime.
Always midnight in a haunted house.
Eventually nightmares were the closest thing I had to redemption.
Something more than the numbness that I felt.
Terror became welcome…
And I developed an unhealthy craving.
For the river and the pain.
A glimpse of you provided the energy,
The stars began to glow dimly.
Taking my hand, but holding my heart.
You inspired the stars to glow with all of their souls.
Once invisible pinpricks.
They now burn brighter than the sun.
The rain still sparkles like silver.
But it is warm and wet.
Quenching my thirst.
The scars still sleep upon my skin.
But they now have a purpose.
A constant reminder of how very much.
I Love You.
The strings in my heart have mended as new.
The voices ring as a meadowlark’s song.
The nighttime is now welcome,
For I sleep with the fierce faith.
That you are always right beside me.
The nightmares have finally become.
Something of beauty and love.
Filled with joy and kisses.
Candles, champagne, and chocolate covered cherries.
The pain calls to me no longer.
Satan’s river runs dry.
You are…
My Heart.
My Soul.
The rock that keeps me from being.
Taken by the wind.
