Why The City Didnt Sleep

Contributed by CARAAAAA on Saturday, 10th June 2006 @ 04:00:05 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Is it 5 am already?
The usually raucous and brutish crows
sired by the dark sordidity
of the tempestuous urban landscapes
make hesistant gutteral sounds
their rasping and cawing is inconsequential
and drowned out by a cacophony
of insomniac sighs
that emanate from within the confines
of the ubiquitous buildings
standing together in claustrophobia
yet solitary,
forlorn yet with resilient dignity
Is it 5 am yet ?
The morning sky huskily breathes in
air from the eaves of night time
not icy cold in rejuvantion
yet possessing mild dew drops of renewal.
It must be 5 am already
for the comforting and engulfing tapestries of midnight
have drawn their curtains of drunken revelry
and regurgitated us out unto the streets
acid on asphalt
and we trundle home in unidentifiable fervour
that smothers the hours in leading to 5 am.
Indeed it must be 5 am already ,
for the birds approach gingerly
picking at the remnants of midnight
that litter the nonchalant streets
its acridity causing the subdued cawing
to swell and escalate
into a symphony of harsh boisterousness
And then the sighs that elude the buildings
cease,receiving affirmation
to leave their uncomfortable beds.
