Your head seems to twist, and sway and distort,
And you try to hold on to each bitter thought,
Swallow that pill, it might ease your pain,
It might wash away all of hurt’s angry stain,
Tomorrow’s a nightmare, this evening’s a dream,
You open your mouth, and laugh, and then scream,
Right now you’re all mine, from smile to shoes,
We sit for awhile, discuss yesterday’s news,
You ease the pain of living, with you I’m okay,
It doesn’t matter what they think, what they try to say,
Stay for tonight, I’ll ask nothing more,
You can leave in the morning, just walk through that door,
I won’t try to hold on, I’ll just watch you go,
Pretend I don’t love you, but I do, don’t you know?

Wow, lately I've been let down by mediocre work here on the website. But you deffinitely reminded me of why I read poetry. Wondefully written, it flows perfectly and it says so much. You have a gift and you put it to work here. Thank you for sharing this.
