TRYING TO FLY

Contributed by Adelle on Friday, 9th June 2006 @ 02:21:18 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Many days I spend running
with great focus and planning
detailing and mapping
every yard and landing
in the sun and the heat
in the rain, snow & sleet
I have persevered every pain
enduring every obstacle in my way
in sickness & in health
in happiness & sorrows I went out
running my heart out
but never getting off the ground
instead more & more stumbling blocks make me fall down
just when I think I am bruised enough I fall again
again & again killing & beating this already dead pain in
beating it lifelessly
but only God knows why I keep running
again & again I get up
more beaten down, my enthusiasm now being drug
now running heartlessly
giving up on my wings
losing the love of life & running
giving up in my heart from ever lifting
though my legs are still going
& my body still trying
lost is my hearts focus in this
no more with it, now faithless
how do I get off this ground
& fly after being so beat down?
Never to give up my legs keep going
but my heart has checked out from this pain
how can I fly if my heart doesn’t revise?
How can I get off the ground if my heart doesn’t try?
Get up, again & again
never, never stop trying get up and win
maybe it will be a life time spent
but never stop trying to lift

Nice write, Shanna. And yes... I agree, it's very visual. I used to run often as well (wish I still did actually). It's great thinking-time.

This is wonderfully metaphoric as well. There are often times when all we can do is keep putting one foot in front of the other... not even knowing where we're going, but knowing that we can't stay where we are. The wonderful thing is... as long as you keep moving, keep trying... there's a rather high possibility, I'd say, that you'll eventually arrive wherever it is that you are meant to be.

Keep writing, keep running, keep trying... you will get there. : )

As someone who, these days, sits down for a cigarette at the first sight of an incline, this gave me a good kick up the rear end.I'm sure such perseverance will see you through to your goal.I liked this a lot, thank you,
