Try Counting Sheep

Contributed by wrybod on Saturday, 8th February 2003 @ 02:20:00 AM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

Ewert Hewes has many ewes
he eweses them to reprodewes
if rambling fewels his ewes abewes
a lewerid interlewed ensewes

Lookig at our map we tewe is
many lines our choice confeweses
rewefully the path we cheweses
leades to where old Heweses ewes is

Ewert Hewes we must elewed
quickly lest we be persewed
threwe the hedge with speed embewed
threwe a gap that we had hewed

Lest you have any illewesions
hastily performed extrewesions
can impart profewes contewesions
to ones personal protrewesions

Hewes approaches.....bearing grudge
firmly whedged.....we cannot budge
threwe the leaves we viewe his trudge
"Heah cum de judge! Heah cum de judge!

With penknives out our hopes renewe an'
what else was ther left tewe dewe, than
hack and slash until we're threwe, can
yewe believe like "Superheweman"

Escaping then we're rather cewet
by fiendishly circewetous rewet
threwe breweks and bogs our voices mewet
sewen leweses Heweses rewed persewet

Tewe miles tewe scewet's tewe ruddy far
tewe reach the pub where we parked the car
but SAFE AT LAST...how about a jar?
Guess whewe's waiting at the bar?

Tewenty brewes sank Ewert Hewes
we paid and prayed lest path we lewes
"Oh thashalright came threwe the beweze
Ish washen't my hedgsh
an' them washen't my ewes!"

Aww come on wrybod .. you're asking me to use my brain here ... ummm could it be "many". I know in the end he says they weren't his ewes, but maybe he had some stashed somewhere else! I dunno, I'm confewsed.

Love your poetry .... always makes me smile.

Jan

karoody Well done! you correctly discerned that our drunken farmer was an imposter, Definitely a £1 to go to the cause
Thanks for the compliment I can't write the "dramatic love" type poems which form YPDC mainstream (too old) so like to pitch in my "funnies?" to lighten things up a bit..

Jenni YOU ARE RIGHT as long as our drunken farmer is telling the truth. It's a trick question as you spotted. however if he is lying the other answer would be correct. i,e, you would have to count them.
Wrybod is a rotten swizzler. I'm sending £1 per answer either way honest.
Buty thank you avyway for your support.

LadyDama you're quite a catch
for rhymes I think I've met my match
I know a poem we'll have to hatch
alternate lines let's start from scratch!

i think i know where you are coming from
my email addy is he9cate@msn.com
if perchance you happen to write
we may make a poem to post on this site

i fear the first line you must write
for beginning poems gives me a fright
i shall await patiently the first line
and i do believe we'll make quite a rhyme...
