Memories of Gold

Contributed by NoSaint on Thursday, 8th June 2006 @ 12:35:28 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

Soft scents of lavender
Fill the air
Quietly her essence
Lingers there

How she loved her garden
Filled with flowers sweet
She would sit there
Drinking tea and daintily eat

Here she found tranquility
The gentle lady fair
She held court to the children
The parents just in awe would stare

She told them stories
Of another place and time
Sometimes they were scary
Sometimes they would rhyme

The tots would sit on the grass
Under an old oak tree
Butterflies would fly past
Sometimes a bumblebee

The wind now sings her songs
And tells the tales she told
And scents of lavender
Bring back memories of gold

Beautiful Shari, I can almost smell the lavender. Stanza #5 was so very sweet. Peace, Laura
