Hush, Sleep Away The Darkness

Contributed by evalastingrose on Monday, 5th June 2006 @ 05:59:48 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

My life isn't accurately named
There is no set beginning and no final ending
And everybody knows it.
They all see it happen right before there eyes,
Alas, the jingle in the background indicates to turn the page
To see what happens next.
I'm proposing a swift orderly transform
Cause behind its meaning the word are nothing that keep me safe.
There's nothing to keep my fingers warm.
I find all the souvenirs from better times while I’m wide awake
I still stumble upon those pictures that make me disregard
Those throbbing memories drilled into my head.
The gleam of your sapphire and jade twilights are frozen in my head
Like a deer caught between taillights and soon fading shadows.
I see myself running away to find a recovered life.
I am searching for the cork
So I can plug up the rain beating down on the brain
And I don’t know where I get these ideas from.
I need to progress from this fight
Cause it's too important to stay the way it's been.
There's no blame for how my visions slowly fade
And now that they’re gone it's kind of like they weren’t there at all
And here is where I break
Where disappointment and regret collide,
Lying to myself so I can fall asleep at night,
But sshhhh don’t tell anyone.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
