Shining sun tempts tender people outside.
Beer gardens crowded with chattering folk
A bar full of choices and barbecue smoke
Ice cold beer at the end of bike ride
From the baking noon sun there’s somewhere to hide
Under umbrella or shadow of oak.
A gaggle of drinkers guffaw at a joke
The early starters now slightly pie-eyed.
Another round bought as some money is found
The sky starts to darken, the temperature drops
A clap of thunder, the first spot of rain.
Glasses are emptied, the last dregs are downed
As the beer gardens empty the chattering stops.
Staggering away to catch the last train.

Yeah, that's my idea of a early summer's arvo, except I'm one of those mad buggers who stand in the rain.
