Puppy Love Attack

Contributed by NoSaint on Thursday, 1st June 2006 @ 07:38:11 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

Her heart was sorely broken
Not a kind word had been spoken
She wandered the path aimlessly
Not caring what she may see

Then off to the left she heard a yelp
She looked that way, could she help?
In the grass that stood tall
She found a puppy so very small

Its eyes were barely open a slit
She looked farther a bit
There she saw the mother dog
Laying near an aged log

Seems someone had taken her life
Out of her side a large butcher knife
Also three other puppies were there
Their little eyes in deaths blank stare

She cried for the loss of life
And the pain and strife
She picked up the little nipper
Cradling him, he could sleep in her slipper

Nursing this dog gave her life meaning
Love from her heart came streaming
As he grew he gave back so very much
She found she looked forward to his paws touch

Her heart given to one so small
Helped her over the mountain once and for all
No longer did she worry what others thought
She knew that love could not be bought

She had found what true love was that day
And in her heart it would always stay
She gave to another but received so much back
She could not wait for another puppy love attack

oh Shari,
this was a true "tear jerker!" What a delightful story. You write such touching poetry. Your heart is on your sleeve when you write, I can feel all your emotions, and you are such a wonderful poetress!!!
I could just see this scene, 'cause I used to take the strays in too!
Is there anything more fun, and touching than a little stray puppy? Haven't found it yet.
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story with us!
Warm love
consue

Such a sweetly sad and yet, happy poem touches the heart of anyone who loves God's creatures. I can't count the number of dogs I have saved in my life and I'm proud of the fact that I could be there to help them. I love the feeling I get from reading this. Excellent write! *****
