LoveRemembered

Seeing you again made my heart skip a beat
I was caught up in a whirlwind of memories
God it's been so long since you walked away
I wondered would you even remember me?
I opened my mouth and started to speak
But held the words back as a teardrop fell
Realizing you wouldn't want to talk to me
Why would you want to relive that hell?
I thought that I had moved ahead in life
But just the sight of you told me I felt the same
Why do I still love you when the feelings not mutual?
Why should I throw my heart back into love's game?
I walked away with words in my throat
Whispered I still love you if only I had known
Rounded the corner on that cold street
As into the wind my words were blown.

Though short, which is not really a problem, this poem expresses a host of emotions. You composed it very well, managing to effectively use words in a manner that adds to the overall effectiveness. Nicely done. |
