Four Stone Walls

Topic: DarkPoetry

i'm staring at these four stone walls
feeling my desperation grow
i'm staring at these four stone walls
the only world i'll ever know
i'm staring at these four stone walls
as the first tear starts to fall
i know i musn't cry too much
or i'll drown within these walls
***** YOU, don't tell me to "tough it out"
you don't know what it's like
i've been trapped inside these ***** walls
my entire life
i'm beating on these four stone walls
my knuckles spatter blood on the stone
i cry out for help, but no one ever hears
i'm in this cell, in this world, alone
i'm talking to these four stone walls
and, sometimes, they talk to me
hell, when you're all alone,
their are no rules, who needs sanity
i think i'm becoming these four stone walls
my skin is turning grey
yet, these stone walls will never crumble
and i will soon fade away
maybe these walls aren't keeping me in
but keeping others away
for if other people were inside these walls
i'd surely go insane
i understand these four stone walls
they have a job to do
and at least they have a purpose
unlike me and you

i'm staring at these four stone walls
as i feel my heartbeat slow
i'm saying goodbye to these stone walls
they only world i'll ever know

I enjoyed reading this poem. You aid the reader in envisioning the setting and you promote the feeling of being trapped and alone, questioning the very fabric of reality against commonplace events. Well done.
