Another drop of rain hits the windshield and I know for certain that there has to be more.
More than this motorway’s never-ending line, more than the tar beneath the wheels of the car.
But god? No. Surely not. Not your god, anyway.
Not your idea of our creator, your idea of our hypocritical father, but the ‘more’ that I believe in.
Life is measured by experiences, and your god would have me limit mine.
The illicit kiss of a lover, a glass of wine and jazz on the radio, things I remember well.
But will that kiss and that sip from my glass, send me straight to hell?
Do not judge me, or consider me immoral, or pray for god to save my soul,
For if you do I shall only laugh, for it is you who isn’t whole.
