Every Man's Tears

Contributed by iodinelove on Sunday, 28th May 2006 @ 03:44:15 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Fire broken in swift anticipation rests silently over standing waters rippled in the snow. Summer plods over the hills as august slips into the foray; night is an amnesty held for the murder of the stars. Reflecting, as a young man reflects upon his failures, I realize the truth. My fingers tremble under the weight of my past.

Life is mad, calling twenty times a day, questioning every move, analyzing, formulating a plan, working out a motive. Life vomits, drinks more, sobs, loses consciousness, wakes miserable to a bright new day. I am bound to life, and am aware of the fragility. I settle, find warmth in old love, serenity in old wounds and pain.

Whiskey is my voice scratched hard and sloshed over tarnished stares and bloodshot faces. My breath is a broken jukebox beaten down with time and change, left hidden behind the veils of sweat and smoke. My laughter is the glass shrieking over the length of the bar.

I stand, hesitate, steady myself and laugh; I am grabbed, shaken, hugged, and loved by men who have lost their love of life.

There is pity in every man’s heart, and there is regality in every man’s tears; but there is no honor in pitying ones life, and there is no majesty in weeping for the damned.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
