selfstruggles

There is no light at the end of my tunnel.
The deeper I go the narrower the funnel.
Whether my eyes are open or shut, it makes no difference.
For where I travel sight has no significance.
I cannot go back because I have come to far,
And even if I could, why relive the scars?
Though danger lurks hidden I stay the course.
For I have no fear, and laugh in the face of remorse.
From the distance come sounds unsettling to the ear.
Though my pace quickens slightly I do not despair.
Putting one foot in front of the other I trudge forward.
Trying to stay my heart, I shout: I am no coward!
My defiance is real as my mind plays me false.
I must keep on the move or lose my fickle pulse.
I see shadows of forgotten beasts in the haze.
And as I struggle my mind is taken by the craze.
I want to run from my demons but my legs turn to lead.
I can do nothing to flee from the turmoil in my head.
I stumble to a halt for I can find no safe haven.
And as my rhythm fades, I realize that I’ve always been craven.

It takes a lot of courage to face down your demons, and to conquer them takes strength. Turn to your friends and family for help, learn from my mistakes.
Good write.
