There is a cloaked figure
Who is gracefully moving through the trees
It wore a dark robe, hooded
I was once pure, naïve to this atrocity
Once I slumbered peaceful, and the wind awoke me
It was the figure. I padded my paws toward him silently
I stalked it like prey
The figure seemed to dance, to glide with the wind
It moved to a moonlight covered clearing
And I rested my chin in my paws watching
It reached its arms toward the constellations
And a flame grew on its fingertips
I grew nervous, I yelped
The figure turned its front to me
I stood up, bared my teeth
The creature removed its robe in mimicry
It was a young human child
Though I still felt uneasy
It had such a sinister scowl on its face
And what was this magic that it had summoned?
It turned to me and giggled
Threw a stone in my direction
I was confused
I could not understand why
The child proceeded to conjure this flame
And rendered the forest alight
Trees were torched into a luminous oblivion
I reared back and whimpered, my home!
I’m broken down
Leaves catch fire resting on the ground
Spreading embers, burning the forest down
What was the cause for this,
So this is the seed of humankind?
I suppose all I can do is sit back and watch the flames.
