What Have We Become?

Contributed by Ruby2sdy on Saturday, 27th May 2006 @ 02:52:51 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I don’t remember what your love was like; I’ve forgotten the warmth of your touch,
I wish that I could remember the way it felt to need you so much.
Recently, we’ve become strangers, dancing the dance of the dead,
Both seeking the words, that once, we so easily said.
Your kiss is suddenly colder, there’s no flicker when you say my name,
And I can’t help but shake the feeling that you think this all is a game.

The sheets lie gathered between us, not long ago, they lay on the floor,
When we’d spend each night, long into the morning, left desperate for more.
Your hands could incite passion, whilst now they seem to inflict pain,
The summer of contentment has been washed away by the rain.
The lips that once soothed suddenly bite, and I wonder if love can return,
Or if growing old together is a lesson that we’ll never learn.

It’s like a house left empty; deprived of the things that made it a home,
Your soul is all at once hollow, and my heart is left cold and alone.
The missing pieces might slide into place, I might awake to find it a dream,
Living like something’s missing, though, makes me want to scream.
Without you I’m still a person - without you, I am enough,
I just cannot comprehend, whatever happened to your love.

Hey there,

It is sad to see someone so torn by their experiences, but I hope that you can learn from them. I hope that you see that as emotional and powerful and as good as this kind of love can feel, in the end it is only a physical love, or lust. Please measure my words carefully...

What is love? Love never fails. It always endures, always hopes, always perseveres, always trusts. It is patient and kind. It does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truh. It is not easily angered, it does not boast and is not proud. It keeps no record of wrongs.

I hope that you can find this love, the love that endures forever. This love creates bonds that cannot be broken. This love heals the deepest wounds. This love satisfies with true delight and peace that passes understanding. This love is the love of God the Father, poured out for you in Jesus Christ.

I hope that you find this love.

Joshua
