The Whys and Wherefores

Topic: FriendshipPoetry

You brought hugs to give me comfort,
Kisses to make me feel better,
A soothing voice to calm me down,
And kind words in a letter,

You gave looks that say I care,
Held your hand out for me to hold,
Your mirth it made me laugh again,
And you brought warm where there was cold,

Thankful though I am for the help you gave,
When I was down and blue,
But how can I explain,
The real feelings I have for you,

For you awakened feelings in me,
Which were causing me pain,
You said I am not the one for you,
And you tried so hard to explain,

So I replied with bitterness,
Was vindictive and so curt,
But I really didn't mean it,
I was trying to conceal my hurt,

My emotions were in turmoil,
My reasoning out of sync,
I wanted to hurt you too,
Of me ,what must you think,

But you weathered my rage,
Listened and made me see,
That you will be there for always,
Because you are a true friend to me,

So here is my sorry to you,
For all the hurt I caused,
You will always be a special friend,
And I hope that I am yours.

I found out long time ago good friends weather the unfortunate love conditions sometimes put upon real good friendships. I once got married to honor those love conditions and ruined a wonderful friendship 'till we got a divorce and became friends forever. She even picked out my next and present wife! Sure glad that friend listened and made you see he's offerin' a special friendship to ya. Fantastic write, sue!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
