Zeitgeist Critique

Contributed by Ruby2sdy on Thursday, 25th May 2006 @ 06:38:40 PM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

Another expressionist zeitgeist fool, Thinking they know my
words worth, Go praise artists of cardboard box fame,
Perspex dishes and dead cows; How dare you judge
me? Words, falling from my soul, Meaning and
intent in every verse, Do not tell me the price
of it, For you do not know the value.
Another cliché in
pentameter,
Written to
impress,
address
and
isolate.
Forced
and
Over-
worked,
Just
let the
words
come.
Arrive.
On the
page.
Don’t
think.
Write.
Don’t censor. Thoughts.
They deserve your full attention, But
do not allow concentration to overtake feeling. A bloodied
heart beats, Trapped in never ending reams of white sheets, As black ink spills from another poisoned pen. The work of the poet, should be honest and true. Tell me, are you?

This poem is 'having a go' at critics, but i really would appreciate comments, the poem is more about the pompous pretensious gits that ooh and ahh over things like Tracy Emin's bedroom, etc,... please comment!
