Why can’t I just be me

Contributed by mrpeanut64 on Thursday, 25th May 2006 @ 01:29:44 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Why can’t I just be me
Why is that so wrong
Why project this image
Never hurt, always strong

From infants we are taught
To never show our fear
Yes, crying is a weakness
Even for those held dear

Pain and grief the enemy
A real man doesn’t flinch
Always with chin held high
For weakness, not an inch

Now as I look back on
A stoic life you see
Never to end this facade
For why can’t I be me

Very well written, to hide your true emotions is to conceal a part of your identity. I must admit I’m guilty of this (can’t even bring myself to tell the girl I love how I feel). Outstanding poem

A very deep, true and honest question.
I can feel your frustrations within this
piece- that is powerful writing. Bravo!

This write meant alot in many aspects to me.

Again this is another delightfully structured poem.
